Development of a logistic carrier recognition system for autonomous forklifts

The goal of the project is to develop an AI-powered system for recognising and localising logistic carriers (pallets) in 3D space, designed for use with autonomous forklifts of the AGV/AMR class. The project is carried out in cooperation with business partner ETISOFT Sp. z o.o.
The solution uses advanced computer vision and machine learning techniques: neural networks for pallet keypoint detection, Luxonis Oak-D 3D cameras, and NVIDIA Jetson edge computing units. Training data is generated synthetically in the NVIDIA Omniverse environment and validated on real-world recordings from a laboratory setup integrated with ROS 2.
The outcome of the project is an MVP with core functionalities, ready for testing in real warehouse conditions. The solution targets manufacturers of autonomous industrial vehicles and contributes to higher levels of warehouse automation in Polish enterprises.
